BC Children’s Hospital Lottery in the Province

This past weekend, BC Children’s Hospital Lottery was profiled in the Province newspaper. Be sure to check out the article in the paper, or read on below!

The Choice is Yours

by Michelle Hopkins

Oceanfront homes in White Rock are some of the most sought after real estate in the Lower Mainland. The geography of the area features sunsets over Semiahmoo Bay, vistas of sweeping hilltops and scenic views of the nearby peninsula. What if you could actually own a piece of this paradise for the price of a ticket?

You might when you buy into one of the best lotteries in the province, the BC Children’s Hospital Choices Lottery 2012. The Grand Prize Cape Cod Ocean View beach home on Marine Drive is worth more than $2.2 million. This 5,000 square foot home offers lavish living on the shores of Semiahmoo Bay. That’s just one of five spectacular Grand Prizes to choose from.

There’s another even more significant reason to buy tickets in the BC Children’s Hospital Choices Lottery 2012. Imagine, if you will, being a parent of a seriously ill child and knowing that your child was receiving world-class health care. The relief you’d feel …

Last year, 7,900 children across B.C. required surgery at BC Children’s Hospital for potentially life threatening illness and injury.

The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at BC Children’s Hospital cares for more than 1,000 children every year and its 24-hour Emergency department receives more than 40,000 visits annually.

Without the life saving and cutting edge research being conducted at BC Children’s, vulnerable children across the province would suffer.

Of the 202 open-heart surgery cases performed at BC Children’s Hospital last year, 49 per cent were performed on patients younger than one year old. Just imagine how winning one of these dream homes would change your life, or that of a loved one… and remember all profits go directly to supporting BC Children’s Hospital.

Early Bird Condo

Early Rewards deadline is midnight March 2nd. Choose between a 2012 VW Beetle or $22,000 cash. PLUS receive a pair of Canucks tickets for the March 28th home game. Besides the fabulous Prize Homes, The Choices Lottery offers 30 per cent more prizes than the previous BC Children’s Hospital Lottery, with more than 4,000 prizes in total to be won. Including their biggest Early Bird — a new Home. Just think, you could win 2 Homes in the 2012 Choices Lottery. Choose a spectacular 20th floor $375,000 1 bedroom and den Condo at Bosa Affinity in Burnaby or choose $325,000 cash. Early Bird deadline is midnight April 5th, but tickets may not last till then.

Act soon as ticket sales are breaking all records; with nearly 80 per cent of the tickets sold already.

So call now to purchase tickets in the most exciting lottery, with some of the best prizes ever. Call 604-692-2333 or toll free at 1-888-887-8771 or visit any London Drugs, Save-On-Foods and Price Smart Foods or Urban Fare, or online at www.bcchildren.com. Tickets for the BC Children’s Hospital Choices Lottery 2012 offer the most prizes and best value ever in British Columbia. Tickets start at: 3 for $100 or 6 for $175 or 9 for $250 or 20 for $500.

BC Children’s Hospital Lottery in the Vancouver Sun

BC Childrens Hospital Lottery

Picture living in a stunning waterfront home with unobstructed ocean views. Then, imagine waking up every morning, opening the French doors and enjoying coffee while taking in sweeping views of Semiahmoo Bay. That’s what you can expect and more in the 2012 BC Children’s Hospital Choices Lottery Grand Prize Ocean View Beach Home in White Rock. Interior designer Deborah Heal of Sunrae Design decorated the 5,000 square foot fully furnished home. “It’s a warm, friendly and very livable family home with an upscale, contemporary country feel,” says Heal. “It’s a modern twist on the Cape Cod beach house.” This luxurious home is a beautiful blend of formal and casual indoor/outdoor living with warm woods, natural stone, a gourmet chef’s dream kitchen with stainless appliances, custom doors and windows. The Beach home is one of five impressive Grand Prize homes offered in the most exciting lottery in B.C.

However, there is another important reason to purchase tickets – our province’s sickest children. BC Children’s Hospital is the only hospital in the province with the critical expertise to meet the medical and emotional needs of children with complex conditions. Without the lifesaving and cutting edge research being conducted at BC Children’s, vulnerable children across the province would suffer, says Stephen Forgacs, Director of Communications, BC Children’s Hospital Foundation.

In 10 years, Choices Lottery has raised close to $30 million for the hospital. “There’s no question our lottery ticket buyers have had an impact on the lives of thousands of children in B.C.,” says Forgacs.

The research conducted at Children’s has a direct impact on the lives of children in B.C. today, while contributing to global efforts to defeat childhood illnesses, including diabetes and cancer. “In fact, our researchers are able to leverage every dollar of funding they receive from the lottery into another five dollars from external granting organizations,” says Forgacs.

Our cancer researchers are working on targeted drug treatments that will be customized to individual children based on their genetic profiles.“This will mean more effective cancer treatments with fewer harmful side effects.” Last year, 7,900 children across B.C. required surgery at BC Children’s Hospital for potentially life threatening illness and injury.

Just imagine how buying a ticket would change the life of a child….

South Surrey Grand Prize home featured in New Home Guide

Starting today, the South Surrey Grand Prize home will be featured in New Home Guide. You can download/view the article, written by Janine Mackie, here – or read on below.

FOR MONTHS NOW, PASSERSBY HAVE BEEN CAPTIVATED BY A NEW HOME TAKING SHAPE IN THE PACIFIC DOUGLAS NEIGHBOURHOOD OF SOUTH SURREY.

Perhaps it’s the glimmering golden hue of the copper roof that’s been flirting for attention, the handcrafted stone work, or the whimsical landscaping with meandering dry riverbed aside the impressive 16,000-sq.-ft. lot. While the word magnificent comes to mind, at the same time it’s undeniably welcoming, and causes those staring from the sidewalk to ask, “Who’s the fortunate family to be moving into this well-designed home?”

Turns out, it could be you. This Craftsman-style family home located at 17388 – 4th Ave. in Surrey, is one of five super-grand- prize choices in the BC Children’s Hospital Choices Lottery. If the number of shoes scattered on the front porch is a true indicator, there’s a voyeur in many of us, who just can’t wait to have more than a peek in the front window, but a real life tour of this sensational home.

Built and designed by Roy Brown Homes Ltd. with advice from Jo-Ann Burley of Sense of Style, and staged by interior designer Gabrielle Schellenberg of GL Ambience Interiors, this 3,500-sq.- ft. home (plus a 1,600-sq.-ft. unfinished basement) is a showcase of innovative design, new building products as well as inspiring furnishings and accessories.

“Street appeal is the beginning,” says builder Brown. “Then walking up to the front entry also has to be pleasing. The front door and just beyond sets the tone.”

HOOD DESIGN IS DICTATED BY THE SPACE

He went with an eight-ft. solid wood door with glass sidelights to complement the Arts-and- Crafts architectural style and also balance the impressive entryway with its soaring ceiling.

“The home has been designed so that as you enter any room, the first thing you do is look out a window,” says Brown, who was inspired to bring the outside in and create a sense of well- being within the home.

Natural elements are found in each room: peaceful landscape paintings, vibrant floral arrangements, and botanical motifs on fabrics, all coordinated by interior designer Gabrielle Schellenberg.

It was also important to create a home with few hallways, but rather an emphasis on depth and dimension.

Stonework is featured on accent walls, as a focal point around the dancing flames of the family room’s linear gas fireplace, and stacking stones on architectural columns.

RECYCLING CENTRE AND SLIDING PANTRY SHELVES

Wideplank American walnut is the hardwood of choice in this home, a wood that shows minimal color variation and has a beautiful natural waxed finish that makes it easy to maintain.

What room is getting the most applause? It all depends on who you ask. For builder Roy Brown it’s the kitchen, which he jovially refers to as the “world headquarters,” where discussions and most major decisions take place. Walnut cabinetry with European soft-close hinges, integrates beautifully in this space with luxurious stainless steel appliances by Dacor and Samsung. Innovative touches include the recycling centre and well-organized pantry room with sliding shelves and pull-out drawers.

MASTER BEDROOM: REFINED & FEMININE, YET SUPREMELY COMFORTABLE

For interior designer Schellenberg, the master bedroom is the jewel inside this beautiful home – the perfect retreat to escape the busy routine of life. The grey bedding with its subtle bamboo motif has a calming effect which is glammed-up by shimmering sequinned toss cushions.

“I just couldn’t pass them up. They bring a fun-element to the bedroom,” says Schellenberg, who also splurged with one of this season’s hottest colours – tangerine, as silk flowers, on pillows and accessories throughout the home.

There’s a total of four bedrooms upstairs, each showcasing popular trends in home decor such as upholstered headboards, funky metallic wall art and mirrored accent tables. Schellenberg intentionally limited window treatments in order to highlight the beautiful woodwork.

TEEN HANG-OUT IS A VISION OF COOL STYLE

Two thumbs up for the multi-faceted staging of the upstairs games room where teens can text, stretch, shuffle their iPods or kick back and watch a flick in their very own space. The pair of black leather “Chloe” gaming chairs by Mobital are on the most-coveted list, and available at Valley Direct Furniture for $999 apiece. Studying may just become a priority when it’s behind a trendy high gloss white desk, also by Mobital and accompanied by two futuristic “Beauty Chairs” in a combination of black leather and white fibreglass.

And of course while the women are oohing and ahhing over the rainhead shower and opulence of the master ensuite with its marble flooring, quartz countertops and square Kohler sinks, the men can be found in the impressive 26-by-28-ft. long double- door garage featuring a polyaspartic coating over the concrete floor and plenty of room for both storage, cars and workbench.

Besides a couple new cars that come with this prize option, the winner will also receive $500,000 cash, which can be used for anything – including finishing the basement into their picture-perfect space. The prize package is valued at more than $2 million.

“It’s been a great experience to design and build this home,” says Brown. “I walked through this past weekend and was so pleased to hear people say that it feels like… home.”

Tickets for the BC Children’s Hospital Choices Lottery can be purchased online at bcchildren.com or at any of the prize homes: 849 Dunsmuir Rd. in Victoria (open 12pm to 4pm on Weekends), 14381 Marine Dr. in White Rock (open 11am to 5pm daily), 172 Victory Ship Way in North Vancouver (open 12pm to 4pm Friday and Sunday) or in this featured show home at 17388 4th Ave. in South Surrey, (open daily 11am to 5pm) For more information, call (604) 692-2333.
